Last year, businesses with fewer than 20 employees added more than 19,000 jobs – 89 percent of the jobs created in the state. Firms with 50-249 employees were the only other segment to add jobs, gaining just over 2,400. The state’s largest businesses, with 500-plus employees, shed more than 11,000 jobs.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
