Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

The state gives aid to the schools based on attendance and excused absences. Those unexcused mean no aid. Thus this policy allows the school to get the aid even with an unexcused absence. I recall in the 60s the comic “Peanuts” had a strip where Lucy asks Linus if he brought in a note for an excused absence so the school can get state aid. Linus replies he’s disappointed because he thought the school cared about his health.
If you don’t like it Linus up and shoot us.
So what’s new? Schools don’t keep track of grant kids anyway. The truant students still get promoted and graduate.

This is a easy one, education is not what they do in the CPS. It is about money for teachers, benefits and huge pensions at young ages. Thank you, Stacey Gates, for what you have done.
I have had two students absent for the better part of three weeks. However, I will still be required to give them a C on their report cards, even though they have made no attempt to even do any online assignments, which they could complete since they still have their district issued (taxpayer funded) Chromebooks. I wish I could make this stuff up.
The ruination of civilization…happening right there. Dooming entire generations to illiteracy, government program support and susceptible to socialism, communism and Islamism. Population ignorance is the first step in preparing a society for take over.
