Hundreds of layoffs announced at suburban companies in recent days – NBC5 (Chicago)

Among them are nearly 200 layoffs at S&S Activewear, located in Bolingbrook, and 230 layoffs at APL Logistics, located in Minooka.

This is the story of Illinois. A state that is too expensive to live in and run a business in. Most any other state is a better choice.

After a quick search, S & S activewear is headquartered in Illinois but is closing one of its warehouse facilities, while keeping other facilities in other states in the name of improved efficiency. APL Logistics is a Japanese firm that uses, in part, multiple warehouses in the midwest for shipping various products to consumers, manufacturers and the like. All jobs are of course welcome in Illinois, but when you encourage warehouse sites, as opposed to manufacturing or more permanent service jobs, there are no ties to the state and no long-term commitment as evidenced by the loss of these jobs.… Read more »
