$1B, unneeded tax hike coming to a tollway near you? – Illinois Policy

The tollway hikes were not needed but rather a gift to reward labor unions for supporting the Regional Transportation Authority bailout of Chicago area mass transit. Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch said the toll hike was the price Illinoisans had to pay for labor union support.

Tollway keeps issuing bonds so it can stay in existence. When the bonds were paid off the TOLLWAY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FREEWAY !!

All tax hikes are necessary to the democrats. You don’t expect them to work for a living? Do you?

IDOT is just as bad as the tollway system. They are putting a round-about in a northern Illinois rural area simply because they had money in the budget under “Safety” and they have to use it. When questioned on why not improve the state roads that are crumbling nearby they said that’s not “safety”. So the roads will continue to deteriorate and millions will be spent on a round-about surrounded by farm fields.

IL is so lawless – got a Chicago stooge ‘judge’ to subvert the road fund ‘lock box’ law. +$3B now not distributed to counties and towns as the law intended for needed road work. Downstate robbed of its apportionment by Pritzker. Gas taxes now being used by Pritzker and Democrats as a slush fund. And the Big Walrus harrumphed.

And on top of it all, they are carrying surpluses, meaning they are overcharging toll users, gas buyers, etc.

What a cash cow for the Dems.

There was an article that IL voters say there is an affordability crisis despite what Trump says. Well, just look at what all these Democratic tax raises do to affordability. Raising toll hikes costing up to $329/ year. Increasing streaming and cloud fees. Automatic gas tax hikes yearly. The toll way hikes will be automatic next year. Increased electric bills due to closure of power plants in favor of green energy. IL voters get stuck with so many indirect taxes and fees that affect affordability. I’m sure readers can list many more.

Dont forget the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act – WHICH SCREWS US NOW for a promise of a future reduction which won’t happen.

If there are ‘savings’ I’m certain Pritzker and Democrats will take them. Nothing for rate payers. PS : $17 in state taxes and fees on my last $300 Ameren bill -WTF!

So Welch blew the whistle in his wording to the Sun-Times that unions do run Illinois and politicians are just the middle men doing there dirty work.

I don’t think he was blowing the whistle as much as he was brazenly bragging about it as a big middle finger to conservatives in the state.
