The Cook County States Attorney did ask for detention after Lawrence Reed's August arrest for attacking a social worker. But they didn't know about the March sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman who was riding the Blue Line, just like Bethany McGee. Neither did the judge who then released Reed on electronic monitoring.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
