Editorial: Chicago has lost its mind – Washington Post*

"In fairness, reckless local politicians aren’t the only reason Chicago is in trouble. Reckless state politicians are also a major problem....Unless politicians get serious, actually cut spending and start enacting sane, pro-growth policies, Chicago will get more than a taste of that bitter pill."

Most Chicago voters did not start with a mind. Just an EBT card.

As much as I dislike Brandon, it’really not his fault. Chicago and Illinois have always been corrupt. Dead people voted for JFK. How many Illinois governors and other politicians have been in prison? When I went to DePaul (1979-83), I knew two brothers whose father worked for the City. He got them jobs at the CTA. Cashiers at El stations. In those days, you paid cash for the fare and went through the turnstile. They stole money daily. They had hot girlfriends and nice cars. The City was very prosperous then and could afford the graft. Now it’s not and… Read more »

It is Mayor Raggedy’s fault as well. He ran for mayor, won and not only has he done nothing to right the ship, he has geometrically decreased the downward trajectory of Shitcago.

Very true. What I found shocking was how few people bothered to vote in the election. People tend to get the government they deserve.

Chicago will have to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Chicago and Illinois will need to crash and burn before anything changes, and even then the media and the democrats will blame the conflagration on the Republicans.

No Schitt, the public sector unions have run the city and the State into the ground. The taxpayers are screwed for generations to come.

The reality is PUBLIC UNIONS are the problem for Chicago and the State, public unions should flat out be illegal.

Not to mention that our “illustrious” GA tricked/lied to voters in 2022 in their defining The Workers Rights Amendment.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Pritzker was not mentioned by name but he plays a prominent part. One example, had the chance to be the adult in the room by not signing the pension bill, he just pulled out his pen, shrugged, and said, in so many words, the morons in Chicago didn’t object, so WTF, why not, and signed.

Interesting. The bonfire know as Chicago gets noticed in the Imperial Capitol – Both Leftist Democrat strongholds. The actions of Democrats time and again shows they care not about affordability issues for average citizens. If the shills who post regularly at WP are an indicator, their consensus is that citizens in IL and Chicago can bear much more taxes and fees. Pfft, what about affordability? The Big Walrus harrumphed again.

What can you expect when Cook County has a reported illiteracy rate of 25% in 2025?
Our Founders spoke of, “an informed electorate”.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
