Democratic primary voters will make the call in what’s becoming a pretty heated race for president of the Cook County Board between 14-year veteran Toni Preckwinkle and Chicago Ald. Brendan Reilly, who represents the downtown 42nd Ward.
Reilly is a longshot because he’s going to need a lot of R and I voters to pull a D ballot in the primaries, but many of those voters will be pulling a R ballot to vote in the gubernatorial primary. Reilly’s only saving grace might be gerrymandering of congressional and state districts, which means many I’s will default to a D ballot just because the R ballot is pretty blank otherwise Ted needs a ot of Cook and collar county support to win. Unfortunately, many of those voters will pull a D ballot. Gerrymandering is going to keep state… Read more »

Brendan would be a godsend, but it is a tough race for him. The racial demographics county wide are 10-15 points against him. The County Board is now composed of a bunch of woke, Preckwinkle supporters. And the apathetic suburbanites need to get motivated to turn out.

I don’t know if he’s any better, but Preckwinkle forgot she is supposed to represent suburban county residents as well. Little to no county heath care clinics in the suburbs. Suburbs should not be taxed for guaranteed income in Chicago. Vote her out.

Socialism versus capitalism. People like free stuff so Preckwinkle will win at the expense of taxpayers.

Ahh yes, the classic Cook county election. You can choose between two professional scumbags both well versed in stealing your money. Both fighting over which one will be allowed to pick the carcass clean while redirecting your low IQ attention by screaming Orange Man Bad. Preckwinkle will obviously win because she looks like most of your “voters”. And that really all they care about or are capable of understanding. If you live in Cook county and find any of this disgusting, too bad. You have no say in the matter and nobody cares about you. So shut up, bend over… Read more »
Great comment. Voting in Cook County only presents the illusion of choice. The candidates are party approved and determined beforehand. One will win but it doesn’t really matter. It’s all the same people, just in difference elected offices, all of which do the same thing.
Exactly, with 25% of CC being functionally illiterate, that’s Preckwinkle’s ace in the hole.

Brendan better make with the “ guaranteed income “ talk pronto if he wants to win. Granny Taxwinkle is sure to pull that one out of her hat along with the predictable Trump bashing.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
