A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
ISU has consistently received a 1-3% increase in state funding over the past decade, regardless of the inflation rate. The school is greatly supported by State Farm, and without it could struggle with general operating costs. ISU now sits with tuition higher than Purdue (in state $25,000) and Iowa ($25,000), and both of those schools include room and board in that amount. Illinois doesn’t understand the benefits of keeping talent in the state, and somehow still wonders why so many high schoolers and families flee for affordable tuition and end up leaving the state.
