How the bump in burglaries impacts Chicago businesses – WGNTV (Chicago)

There have been reports of nearly 10,000 burglaries to businesses in Chicago since 2021. The total number declined last year compared to 2024, but with an average of more than 30 per week, no arrests are made in a majority of cases.

I suggest someone in the news media take a close look at those statistics. I bet the Chicago police department is listing a lot of burglaries as criminal trespass or some other minor crime to fudge the stats and make the city look safer than it is. I also bet no news organization will question these statistics as to not upset the current political leadership in Illinois and/or show that certain groups of peoples are more involved in crime than others.

It’s a no brainer. Chicago needs to arrest and lock up criminals. Crime without consequences breeds more crime. Businesses will move out

No one is held accountable in roughly 80% of Chicago burglaries.
Well, in my town we have a new public safety center and we support our law enforcement officers. Crime is everywhere but Chicago is the pits and Chicago’s mayor won’t work with law enforcement and doesn’t care about public safety.
