Illinois Federation of Teachers lied about its membership numbers – Illinois Policy

In a February 2025 press release, IFT said “educators and state workers from the 105,000-member Illinois Federation of Teachers” had rallied at the Capitol in Springfield. But the union told the U.S. Labor Department in its most recent federal filing — dated a month after the press release and signed under penalty of perjury — that it had 88,458 members.

No wonder Illinois students do poorly in math – that’s about a 19% rounding error.

Error or outright lie?

Why not? Lies about how well your kids are testing, lies about the curriculum not being anti- white, Marxist and queer oriented, lies about how many days they actually show up for work, lies about conferences in New Orleans and Las Vegas, lies about the level of sexual misconduct and bullying going on in schools. Why break tradition and start being truthful now?

They’re Illinois teachers. You can’t expect them to count. Hell they don’t expect you to think they’ll teach . Do you ?
