Bailey has been largely AWOL in CI. Got a postcard and thats it. Only people I’ve met who intend to vote for Bailey in the primary are retired teachers who said they support Pritzker/ Democrats. I’m predicting a record low primary turnout as most registered voters see the rigged election in IL as a waste of time. May as well go ahead and install Pritzker.
Because he is the favorite and it looks like he is going to win the primary again. Sure, he knows he is a long shot but so is any other Republican that wins the primary. Bailey knows that it will take certain stars to align to win the general for any Republican but it might as well be him. Bailey (or 99% of all political candidates) won’t drop out of a race where they are the front runner. It just doesn’t happen. Also, the headline is laughable. The GOP voters aren’t really demanding answers from Bailey otherwise he wouldn’t be… Read more »
Actually, there is a very, very persistent rumor coming out of Southern IL that Bailey plans to drop out after winning the nomination. I am not saying that’s either true or false, but I am sure he knows that you are wrong that he would have as good a chance of winning as anybody. That’s because he can raise no money, which is fatal.
You can cling to that rumor Mark but that would be considered a long shot when it comes to politics. Time will tell Mark. I think he is counting on the unity breakfast to start the funding.
I don’t doubt that. Doesn’t change the fact that it is highly unlikely that he will drop out. It’s not like you to get sucked into these types of rumors.
You don’t need to convince me that Darren is a bad candidate. I was pointing out his problems during the last election when so many people here thought he had a chance to win. I don’t think he possesses a chance to win but none of that changes his mindset. If he wins next Tuesday, he won’t be dropping out. Let’s say you’re right and I’m wrong. Do you honestly think that if Darren Bailey is “forced out” by something like this that his supporters won’t think he has been treated poorly and decide to withhold their vote for the… Read more »
That’s why it doesn’t make sense that Bailey would just step down. He would need to be promised (bribed) with something huge for him to just suddenly step down next week. It’s better to lose for his own brand (blame it on Illinois being a blue state) than it is to step down and admit that he can’t win and that the money people don’t support him. If Bailey steps down, it would look like he is capitulating to the Republican “elite” and that would be the end of any other political hopes. I don’t think he is ready to… Read more »
I’m pretty sure that if you and I were assigned by a neutral judge to write an honest paper detailing the reasons why it’s at least a material possibility, we’d write pretty much the same paper, and it would be convincing.
An honest paper would include a segment on the psychology around quitting a race you won easily and then quitting because you don’t believe you have a chance to win the general. An honest paper would respond to all of your detailed reasons as to why it’s a possibility, and follow it up with the fact that narcissistic people that are drawn to run for political office typically don’t believe they should step aside for the “greater good”. That paper would point out how rare it would be and more importantly provide statistical analysis to point out that even with… Read more »
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

Hers mine . Why the f**k are you still running ?

I know most of the big GOP contributors. They will not unify behind him. He knows that.

The GOP central committee would decide and vote totals, I’d guess, would have some bearing, but I don’t know.
Awesome! Kamala 2.0. That should work out splendidly.
Letting our big donors decide for us. Infighting. Eating our own. Tell me again, how are we any different from the Democratic Party?
I don’t focus much on party infighting, but the GOP circular firing squad sure seems to be using machine guns now.

Any update from your rumor mill? Should we expect Bailey to withdraw today or will he wait until it’s harder to choose an alternative?
Nothing, except that I it again last night through a different branch in the grapevine.
Sounds like both branches are connected to the same wishful thinking tree.
