Reminded by a reporter that CPS students already will be off Tuesday and Wednesday this week, all next week for spring break, and off again April 3, Johnson argued that CPS parents also want their schools to be fully funded. “If we just believe that we can just sit on our hands and just hope and wish, that clearly has not worked. I’ve called for taxing corporations, and I’ve had other elected leaders fight me who are also Democrats,” he said.
“Mayor Brandon Johnson on Monday hinted strongly that he supports the Chicago Teachers Union’s call to officially sanction a one-day strike on May 1 that would allow students at Chicago Public Schools to miss a day of classes to make their case for increased school funding.” A strike means no pay. If the employees are then given “back pay”, as in previous strikes, I would say that CPS parents have the right to sue, since it violates CPS’s own Code of Ethics, Section IV, paragraph H: Political Activity: No Official or Employee shall perform any Political Activity while conducting Board… Read more »
At $29,028 per student, CPS is already fully funded. These CPS students should be in class for more rigorous studies or they’ll end up a complete ignoramus like Mayor Cliff Notes.

The majority of the funding is spent on inner city CPS schools where there is little parental participation for generations, causing illiterate students to be… Read more »

Students are failing. Students being off for political purposes should not be allowed to, especially since CPS is not educating students.

Really ??? This is embarrassing. If the CTU wasn’t so greedy, if we consolidate schools, dump unused properties and underperforming teachers ,we wouldn’t need a gofundme for schools . We are a national embarrassment

Protest on a Saturday, not a school day.
