U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski has been a staunch advocate of improved mail service, while strongly opposing efforts toward privatization. Budzinski leads the bipartisan Congressional Postal Service Caucus, a bipartisan group that focuses on these issues in the House of Representatives.
Snail mail would be dead if not for the fact that it is a government entity. Get with the real world and email everyone. All my bills come via email, all documents come by email, everything is done on the computer today. Only thing USPS does is delivery junk mail. If the delivered once per week that would be enough for most people (too much for many).
I prefer my paper bills arriving in the mail. It’s a constant reminder to pay the bill as it sits on my kitchen table. The email bills come and go quickly with the several dozen, or more, other emails I get every day. I’ve missed bills in the past because the email got lost. And trying to search for an old email is like finding a needle in a haystack with ‘modern’ email systems. A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
