Illinois roads, bridges lag behind rest of the nation – Center Square

“I think the implication is that the state could be doing a better job using transportation funding, particularly fuel taxes, to maintain roadways and improve roadways,” report author Baruch Feigenbaum said. “What this shows is that the systems that the state has in place are not doing a great job at improving bridges, which is one of the most important things that IDOT does or improving pavement condition.”

Highest gas taxes are there just to abuse the taxpayer. The worst roads are there to raise taxes more for even worse roads. Feel like you are being screwed? You should because you are.

Obvious question, where’s all the gas tax money going, especially since it’s going to be raised again in a couple of months. Thought the unions were looking forward to all this money being used for rebuilding roads and bridges.

Isn’t some of that money earmarked for Chicago mass transit? Don’t worry though it will get straightened out by Bailey when he is elected Governor <rolls eyes>

Yes increase the tollway drivers fee’s for a service they don’t use but for people who haven’t had a fee raised since 2018.

That’s a feature not a bug. Promising voters a benefit while the “other” guy pays is a major pillar of Illinois Democratic policies. They keep doing it because the voters reward it. It’s like Illinois voters are getting exactly what they voted for.

Well, you have to give them time to grift and steal and reassign half of it before anything starts. Nothing the state government of Illinois does follows the plan…except the grift.
