Illinois hormone‑therapy bill draws clash over minors’ access – Center Square

Legislation in the Illinois Capitol could allow for more lax rules regarding some hormone medications. Republicans say the bill was quietly snuck through with vague language that would allow pharmacists to prescribe a 12-month supply of hormone therapy medication to minors.

And if you wonder why your insurance premiums are going its meds like ozempic that was covered and now this. It all trickles down to everyone

Despite the language of the law, pharmacists won’t be prescribing hormone medicines to minors outside of a doctor’s care. There’s no way CVS or Walgreens or any pharmacy insurer will insure this obvious hazard or allow their employees do this. Trial lawyers are salivating at the opportunity to sue large pharmacies with deep pockets after their patients, children, suffer lifelong sterilization, osteoporosis and various other ailments. The bill will increase costs because it never specifies that if you obtain a 12 month supply at retail you will have to pay the equivalent amount of 12 monthly co-pays. Further, it provides a going away “gift” to retiring or terminating employees who would not otherwise be eligible to receive the drugs for a term longer than their actual coverage by a medical plan. Also, the language sets some questionable standards for dispensing said medications: "prescription hormone therapy" means all drugs approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration that are used to medically suppress, increase, or replace… Read more »

They need to supply teens with birth control to put off reproduction until these teens are educated and support themselves. These kids need a future other than welfare dependence.
