Why do people keep such tight purse strings on the emotion of compassion? It costs nothing to be nice to people.

In this case, it costs a lot, if the nice park you’ve been taking your kids or grandkids to turns into a s***hole.

The linked article says the bill will require, with certain exceptions, three days notice before an encampment can be cleared. That doesn’t seem an unreasonable restriction. My understanding is that Chicago already provides notice before clearing.

Can i camp out in your yard for three days? In those three days I’ll use your yard as a toilet, get drunk, harass your family and maybe bring over a hooker or two.

Put the homeless encampments in Pritzker and the Dems neighborhoods. Also put them in the Democratic liberal’s neighborhoods. I for one do not want drug addicts, criminals, illegals, or the mentally ill in my neighborhood park. Maybe Dems should address those problems, instead of dumping in the suburbs and the rest of the state. This bill is to clean them out of Chicago.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Local control of local resources makes far more sense than virtue signaling from Springfield that creates problems for local governments. Different towns have different resources/lack of resources and a one size fits all approach dictated from Springfield is characteristically misguided.

Will I need to get a license for a tent fire?

I guess I am a one of the lucky few, I was brought up to “Treat Humans like humans”, it does not matter who they are. You should always treat each other with respect.

Or one of the virtue signalling few who somehow finds the homeless camps to be “treating them like humans”. We wouldn’t let dogs live that way.

We treat dogs better than humans, much better. Many of the homeless are veterans and this is how we treat them. Many of the homeless are what I call “lost souls”, living out a desperate existence. I agree we should be able to do better, but till then this is what we got. Chicago has money for lots of waste but little to nothing for the homeless. Some of these homeless have children living this way. One half of the city is only 1 or 2 pay checks away from being homeless themselves.

I suggest all politicians, people and organizations who are proponents of this bill
take the homeless into their homes and find rooms within their organizations to house the homeless.

Not if you live in any blue, communist state. Why are these states able to operate the way they do in The United States of America?

I reside in Illinois, and why do these Blue States operate they way they do, because a certain segment of voters in this god forsaken state allow it by there voting habits. It’s been posted many a times you get what you vote for, when will people wake up.

Your reverence for mob rule is touching. It’s also completely contrary to the founding principles of the country.

Voting is mob rule? lol This country broke free and was founded on a principle of no taxation without representation. You have representation now (thanks to our founders) and they are chosen through elections. That’s not mob rule nor is it contrary to the founding principles of this great nation. The majority of voters are getting what they want If not, they are free to choose differently. My guess is the Illinois voters are happy with their choices. We will find out in November. How long will you keep playing the victim? Get people to vote differently or move. Those… Read more »

When only 30-35% of eligible voters vote, districts are gerrymandered to favor one party, and most incumbents run unopposed, it’s hard to call IL’s system majority rule.

I am talking about why are Blue states able to operate(Federal level) as communist states, against the Constitution of the USA and against good people,

Super majority because of gerrymandering .
