New task force aggressively prosecuting CTA crimes with hopes to prevent future ones: O’Neill Burke – ABC7 (Chicago)

"We ask for detention in every violent crime on the CTA ... We're getting detention in 81 percent of the cases. That's up significantly from where it was 15 months ago. And the way that we do that is make sure judges have the fullest picture possible on why this person presents a danger," said Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke.

It is a breath of fresh air to have a Democrat prosecutor that enforces the law. Our State’s Attorney recognizes that violence on a common carrier, in a confined area where passengers are unable to escape or flee, requires the state to seek more severe punishment and more pretrial detention. I would never willingly vote for a Democrat, but I’m glad that other people in the county elected her.
