Schools face bus funding, cost challenges – Center Square

Illinois law does not require all school districts to provide free bus service, but community consolidated districts, community unit districts and consolidated districts are required to provide free transportation for pupils from kindergarten through 12th grade who live 1.5 miles or more from any school to which they are assigned.

I drove a school bus and it sucked. Unruly kids , helicopter moms and dad’s. I even had one woman have me wait while she shoveled a path down the driveway so her son wouldn’t get his new gym shoes wet. Of course I couldn’t leave him , instead got called in for late route. Quit after 2 weeks. Let the parents figure it out
