Why on earth are charter schools unionized? That would make not really charter schools.
Rick- I still can not figure out why public schools are unionized. Who really owns any particular public school district? Is it the public citizens or union leaders and employees? These are public institutions that are run like private corporations-all contract negotiations are behind closed doors without any public scrutiny whatsoever until contracts are ratified. Maybe I need to start my own public school dist and everyone will be forced to throw money at me without having any say.
Another reason to privatize the public school system. According to the Illinois Constitution no public monies can go to any religious or sectarian organization. What if the private schools with religious affiliation would agree not to teach any student religious doctrine but only the basics. They could abstain from those classes thus circumventing Illinois law. If private schools would agree to this they should get public money.
