Chicago Teachers Union president Sharkey in hot water as some of his “useful idiots” visit and embrace impoverished, socialist Venezuela – Chicago City Wire
You can’t spell Chicago Teachers Union without C-H-E.
But seriously, folks, this trip so on-brand philosophically and physically. It’s hard to miss the CTU branding in the pictures. Wouldn’t be surprised if they handed out CTU swag to the folks in the food lines.

Wonder if he’s regretting his reinstatement of Ms. Chambers yet. This trip seems to fall in line with the sort of behavior that was listed for her getting fired in the first place.
It’s not just Chambers. You can see the others on their blog about this. And as to whether it was indeed a CTU delegation, the blog says, “This blog represents the members delegation of the Chicago Teacher’s Union that are currently in Venezuela to learn from educators and activists on the ground. ” http://radicaleducatorcollective.org/
Checked out the blog. Interesting to note that comments are closed on every entry. Gotta make sure they keep dissenting voices out. This is a great site you have, Mr. Glennon. Keep up the good work of exposing the insanity that’s running this state into the ground.
Not at all. CTU earns their dues dollars by getting their members back in the classroom, regardless of the circumstances. If they couldn’t, no doubt they’d hire her as a union employee instead of just a member delegate (which she gets paid for, BTW).
There’s a picture of her wearing a “Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela” hat (United Socialist Party of Venezuela). It’s CTU red.
