Previously I read legal and accounting services. I’m thinking one example would be the divorce attorney that collects $20,000 – $30,000 for each case. So now that attorney will pay a tax of $1,000 to $3,000 on each case. Now the poor person who just lost half of everything will now lose another $1,000 to $3,000. Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
