Almost all the reasons for moving – such as cost of living, housing, government, education, crime, job opportunities – are attributable to taxes in varying degrees. Only weather and family are out of control of government. That’s the truth.

You can either believe this article or you can believe in common sense. Just ask yourself, “Would you stay in a place regardless of taxes? What if they doubled, or tripled, or more?
Most of the time the point of view you are expressing is likely right, but “common sense” isn’t always right if you think about it. You’ve heard of the Flat Earth Society, I’m sure. Every common-sense idea has backers and zealots. They may be right but aren’t always right. Don’t dismiss other points of view because they don’t fit neatly into your own “common sense” view. A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
