A Plan To Expand A TIF District In Pilsen Is Dividing Neighbors – Block Club Chicago

Many longtime Pilsen residents, who have endured gentrification and rising property taxes, have opposed an expanded TIF district. At meetings and in interviews, they’ve expressed concerns the TIF funds will be misused and could contribute to gentrification. Supporters have argued a bigger TIF district will help residents by funding affordable housing projects.

Another I’m from the government and I’m here to help scam. Where’s the CHA in all of this? They’re swimming in unspent Federal funds they only spend on secret gentrification projects. Is anyone thinking about the “new” low-income housing that was sold to the residents in the projects that were demolished? Thought not. They still haven’t been built.
