Details emerging about Chicago Teachers Union’s upcoming contract show just how divorced its demands, both extreme and expensive, are from the reality at Chicago schools. It’s not just about massive salary increases, but also about money for migrant students, climate initiatives, abortions and gender-affirming care. About blocking parental notification. Count on CTU’s demands to veer further from reality until the public finally says no.

It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”

IL and Chicago were proudly proclaimed sanctuaries for illegal immigrants by Democrats. Till that changes, they will keep coming here.
Illegal immigrants are going everywhere, not just sanctuary cities. The joke however is on the sanctuary cities because they voluntarily took on the duty to support these immigrants at great cost, while most other cities do nothing, and except them to quietly slip underground into their own communities, without government support.
Emanuel, Pritzker, and Lightfoot with great fanfare and ‘wokeness’ proclaimed that IL and Chicago would gleefully break federal immigration laws and undermine enforcement by ICE and be a ‘sanctuary’ for law breakers. States and cities that proclaimed themselves sanctuaries for illegal immigrants created the pull for illegals into their communities. Now they must deal with the consequences of their actions.
No one seems to notice that the hispanic community is generally in favor of the mass migrations, as their distant relatives migrate to America, never to return home again.
My read of the polls has been opposite–that they want to border enforced.

Lefties don’t need consistency, intellectual honesty, or morality because they are largely not God fearing people.

Sadly, my wife buckled and is letting in-laws into our home for Christmas. Life long Democrats, Obama voters who fled Chicago for a Red State, 4X’ed vaxed, wear masks – They have TDS. Their hypocrisy is astounding. Recently though they have at least become quiet as their corrupt brain dead Biden destroys the country and they are personally suffering for it. Last two family holiday get togethers have been pleasant, since my two insane lefty ( I know redundant) nieces were not in attendance. Unfortunately they will be in attendance tomorrow. One is a teacher the other works in HR, and yes fit the stereotype.
