Activists call on Chicago to reverse permit denial for march before Democratic National Convention – Chicago Tribune/Yahoo

Whether the new coalition loses its appeal or not, Andy Thayer said the group plans to march. He said he’s disappointed in the city’s “contempt for the First Amendment,” which he said is similar to conditions under previous mayors. “If they are worried about chaos, if they are worried about violence, then they will respect legitimate permit applications such as have been put in by this coalition,” Thayer said.

I’m telling you the DNC is going to be a nothingburger …. unless there’s some astroturfed social justice issue that becomes the focus of the media. Most DNC delegates just want to party at the wine bars while others pay to take home call girls at night. They don’t want any protests. It ain’t going to happen. The watched pot never boils over.

The left has become steadily more violent in their “protests”. This violence and rioting will continue because their demands will never be met. It won’t end until this violent rioting fringe is completely discredited politically and the voters elect politicians with the courage to enforce the law and imprison these thugs. This violent tendency is the achilles heel of the Democrat Party and will lead to their eventual failure.

Leftist activists can’t get a permit during the Democrat party convention as in Democrats censoring their own? Well if the activists’ get angry I would suggest an alternative to vote for.

Democrats break the law constantly. They actually want a permit to protest? I thought all the “mostly peaceful” protests and burning of buildings in 2020 was their right and they didn’t have a permit then. I say they should go for it.

We have a Constitutional right to peaceable assembly. no permit required.

That’s right, is it a peaceable assembly when you block the road and someone misses their flight or dies in an ambulance on their way to the hospital.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
