After protesters’ arrests at anti-ICE rally, advocates decry CPD’s ‘violent and aggressive’ response – Chicago Sun-Times

Chicago police officers pin a demonstrator to the ground and arrest them at Washington and State, during a protest in the Loop, decrying increased immigration enforcement across the country, Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Chicago.Four demonstrators facing felony charges are accused of spitting in an officer’s face, chucking a water bottle at a cop, throwing “an unknown liquid” at another officer and tagging police vehicles. One, a 37-year-old Chicago man, said his “emotions got the best of him” when he was tackled and struck with a baton after tossing the bottle.

I wonder how the tory would read if someone spit in Mayor Johnson’s face? Would it be an “alleged” event or would that person be immediately charged with multiple felony accounts?

Remember when a guy was arrested for throwing a cup of root beer at the former Cook County States Attorney? I believe she was looking for the death penalty but punch a cop, throw a brick or spit in their face well thats just funnin’.

If a Police officer “lets his emotions get the better of him”, he loses his job. So you getting thumped with a Billy club and then hog tied with handcuffs does not seem too “violent and aggressive”.

Communists and their dupes. Evil and/or foolish. Enemies of the Constitution, both foreign and domestic.

PS the photo shows a cop with a billy club.

FAFO – The CPD did exactly what they should do and are trained to do. Excellent work CPD!

Play stupid games…win stupid prizes. Love the comment in the story about the protester who’s emotions got the better of him and he chucked a bottle of water at a police officer…then is surprised at what happens next…More, oh so much more, of these consequences need to happen to these protesters. The Cops won’t start it…but if they are assaulted they can and should finish it – and leave no doubt. The protesters will think twice next time and part of their evaluation of whether to throw a bottle will be…how much do I want to pay for this action…and… Read more »

Yeah, let’s go back to the stone age where life was GOOD and we can seriouly injure and maybe even kill our supposed enemies based upon our instincts. We don’t need no damn trials ‘cuz we have “common sense.”

Looking for the laugh emoji here and then I realized it isn’t Facebook.

Paraphrasing the left’s BS analogy for killing unborn babies here: “You don’t want to get hit? Then don’t hit someone first”. That is common sense.

Life is tough, wear a cup!

What suburb to you live in ? Do you even have a stake in what goes on in the city ? Do you actually accept hitting a cop without repercussions is OK? Get real

If your ancestors didn’t have the instincts you now decry, you wouldn’t be here right now.

You described almost perfectly the lunatic Leftists and illegals running amok on the streets of our cities.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
