Trustee Susan Buchanan: “Can I trust the police that the police would treat this carload the same as a white family? My education on systemic racism in the past few years has answered that question for me — it’s no. All of us, of all colors and stripes, have deep-seated biases that are a result of our upbringing and the society in which we live. It’s highly unlikely that a carload of Black boys is going to be treated exactly the same way as a white family. We’re just not there yet as a society and this is what our Black residents are telling us, and I’m listening to them. They are telling us that they don’t trust that they won’t be profiled.”

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The license plate readers are color blind. If the cop reading the plate is racist, does it matter if he’s behind a computer reading the plates or if he’s in a police car monitoring traffic? The issue is with your Oak Park cops, not with the readers.
Forget the police! Can we trust that car load of Blacks to act the same as a car load of Whites?
Buchanan should do a bit of research on the function of license plate reading cameras before pulling out the race card.
Why does anyone care what Oak Park does? If they want to burn down all their houses let them. Isn’t this the best way to show other residents the panacea of a new world that Oak Park is creating?

My first thought was…this woman has no idea of how much all teenage boys are hassled by cops. Growing up, I had my share of slow rolls and long stares. Once I was pulled over just for making eye contact with the cop car next to me and kinda smiling (he thought I was mocking him). White girl privilege.
It wouldn’t surprise me that soon laws will be made that having a car load of African Americans will be deemed segregated just like what happened to the school districts. Too many of one group must be bused to various schools. Too many of one race in one car will have to be desegregated. Two black in one car must have two white and at least 1 Hispanic or any combination of different races. Hope I did not give the woke crowd an idea. We are in an anything and everything is possible world.

Pulled over many times as a teenager. Yes white kids get pulled over for no reason too. We were always respectful and never had a problem. You learned which cops were dicks and which ones were cool.
