After Spike In Shootings, Edgewater Neighbors Call For More Visible Police Presence – Block Club Chicago

Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth said she’s advocating for increased police foot patrols after 19 shootings last year in the Far North Side neighborhood, up from 5 in 2023. “That’s something that people want to see more of — not just a cop sitting in a car with the lights on, but real relationships,” Manaa-Hoppenworth said.

Leni was one of the loudest voices for defunding the police. Perhaps she should don a “ violence interrupter “ vest and police her ward.
