After stepping down as minority leader, Durkin to exit Illinois HouseDurkin said he plans to return to his private law practice in the Chicago area, but he also plans to continue giving speeches and offering his opinions on issues he thinks are important. As for the future of the Illinois Republican Party, Durkin said he sees plenty of young talent within the House GOP caucus, including some who are leaving office.

Any bets that in a few years he will move south like all the other high-income people have.

Long overdue for a farewell to a Repub leader who did absolutely nothing to create a message, implement a strategy or run good candidates. Madigan ran all over the House Repubs the entire time Durkin was there and there wasn’t a single episode of Durkin scoring a victory. Change should have happened ten years ago.
