Around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, three women, two 20-year-olds and a 19-year-old, in the 2200 block of North Sheffield when three men emerged from an alley; they battered and robbed the victims. Three more robberies were reported in the area at about the same time. “Chicago continues to face ongoing challenges with criminal activity across the city. In Brazil, they allow extreme prejudice against robbers attacking people, and you can find videos of the robbers on motorcycles being mowed down by people with cars who witness the crime. Even the announcement of such a policy in the U.S. could put a serious chill on this type of crime. As another commenter mentioned below, it doesn’t take many such incidents to ruin the reputation of a city or area.
Just read DePaul’s published Anti-Racism statement. It is chock full of acknowledgements of European colonialism, white supremacy, embedded structural racism and other such professed “acknowledgements” and “recognitions”. There were and continue to be BLM banners all throughout campus and the neighborhood. The supposed Catholic university has declined to such an extent that it cannot even acknowledge all lives matter. This stuff enables soft on crime, defund the police, jails are racist and other such thinking. Seems DePaul has enabled the “sad reality”. They don’t need press releases, but rather a total reboot in thinking.

Not safe to attend DePaul or the University of Chicago or the University of Illinois or Roosevelt University…(See article Former Roosevelt University student gets probation for stabbing classmate. In Chicago probation for a violent unprovoked attack is normal.) Also, because of administrative bloat and mismanagement, tuition and fees are ridiculous. And let’s not forget the whopping SURS pensions that have made faculty members and administrators… Read more »
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
