The $16.6 billion, 2026 budget approved by a City Council majority that rejected Johnson’s corporate head tax assumed that Chicago would generate $6.8 million by licensing newly legalized video gambling terminals across the city. Johnson has yet to provide the official notification to the state needed to trigger the licensing process.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
With newly legalized video gambling terminals across the city, there’s little incentive for Bally’s to open at all.
In other words he didn’t get what he wanted so he’s going to torpedo the project. Just plain stupid
