Matteson offered generous property tax incentives to land a marijuana facility with 300 jobs, just as the state’s fledgling cannabis industry is preparing for an explosion of new companies entering the market.

Where do I fill out the paperwork to get a tax break. I have lots of weeds in my lawn including some poison ivy. Do I also get some cash for dandelions?

Cannabis legalized in 2020; violent crime rate skyrockets in 2020 and through 2021. Toss in the St. Floyd police stand down and it’s a recipe for disaster.

Contrary to the image of potheads as peaceful stoners, “cannabis-dependent psychotic patients were four times as likely to be violent,” Alex Berenson writes in his magnificent new book, Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence. “No other factor was nearly as important. Alcohol use, which was common among the patients, made no difference.”  So where are all the marijuana-induced murders?  As Berenson says, they’re hiding in plain sight.

Even the rooftop pastor from the article yesterday admits the cannabis is part of the problem:

“I think younger people are experimenting at an alarming rate with substance abuse, specifically, different kinds of pills and these gummy bears, and, of course, this new type of weed they got out.” Quarles answered. “They’re making awful decisions, especially when they get their hands on guns.”

The pro pot lobby is very powerful, and they have been successful in touting marijuana as medicine. Berenson’s book is a fascinating read, and the pro pot forces are furious, even leading to Berenson – a former pharma reporter for the New York Times – receiving death threats. The most common criticism lobbed at Berenson is that he conflates correlation with causation. The correlations are so high, however, so it is difficult to deny Berenson is correct. And even if he isn’t, the pot today is not the pot of yesterday, with 25% THC content or more. There is a… Read more »

Why do we pour money into an enterprise without sufficient scientific knowledge? Because our reps are money grubbing anti-science freaks! That’s why! Renown Moloch Worshiper Rep. Cassidy sponsored the cannabis legalization bill, and her wife (Newt Gingrich’s half-sister) coincidentally got a job with a cannabis outfit as the VP and head of business development for the state of FL, which has yet to legalize marijuana for recreation (legal for medical). https://www.chicagobusiness.com/greg-hinz-politics/wife-legal-weed-law-sponsor-takes-big-job-cannabis-company Wife of legal weed law sponsor takes big job with cannabis company The wife of one of the architects of Illinois’ new law legalizing recreational marijuana has landed a big job… Read more »

Clearly the politicians do not care about externalities. They are real and impose costs. Same with gambling.

When I purchased Betrnson’s book I thought he would have focused on amotivational syndrome. My own experience reflects observation of people/stoners who never really launch and rely on others to get by. But as Berenson points out, being a non productive slug pales in comparison to struggling with psychoses, a condition you wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Stoners are lazy for sure! But the psychosis part makes sense especially with the really potent weed out there. Kids aren’t smoking blunts of ditch weed any more, they’re dabbing highly potent stuff.
