Legislative goons are more interested in removing a TRUMP sign, defunding police and letting criminals run wild! Disgusting! And they stick their finger up their ses and wonder why America is so divided. All the Democrat Communists want to do is implement the Communist Manifesto, they won’t tell the people this, but at least 1/2 of us know what is going on.

The voters are communists. This what they want.

I’m not sure on this but I believe if you are in possession of a stolen motor vehicle it’s a misdemeanor unless they can prove you are the one that stole it or you know it’s stolen.

My comments were focused on the huge increase in carjackings with a gun. Surely that is not a misdemeanor?

Here’s a better explanation. I don’t know if the law was ever changed. I know the black aldermen opposed the change in the law that’s referenced in the article. https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/mayor/press_room/press_releases/2018/February/AutoTheftLegislation.html

Hard to see how this trend reverses, given the no consequences approach of the legal establishment in the city and county. I would imagine the convention industry is watching these events closely. I can see that industry largely avoiding Chicago until this is brought under control. If it is not, the City can kiss that industry, the taxes, the jobs and the support for a diverse restaurant / entertainment scene goodbye.

“I can see that industry largely avoiding Chicago until this is brought under control.”

Conventions will have permanently moved to FL, NV and TX. They’re no longer monitoring the situation but actively making plans to conduct business elsewhere.

My father lives in an overpriced, unsaleable place in the Gold Coast a half a block away from one of the carjackings. Half a block away from the tony Raquet Club as well. Just one more shoe to drop in terms of people asking why the heck it makes sense to live in the Gold Coast any longer.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
