In addition, Mayor Brandon Johnson’s finance team, led by Chief Financial Officer Jill Jaworski and Budget Director Annette Guzman, has yet to account for a $175 million pension payment the city made for Chicago Public Schools employees who are not teachers in the city’s 2024 spending plan. The Chicago Board of Education refused to reimburse the city for that payment, despite the mayor’s repeated requests.

Who in the world can figure out this convoluted mess?? Per Austin Bergs, must read, trib article from a couple days ago (https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/06/27/opinion-zohran-mamdami-lesson-chicago-new-york-richard-ravitch/) states Chicago is the only major city without a charter with no GAAP accounting required? And the state has no Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in 3 years? Nobody know where all the ARPA-COVID $billions went (nobody’s been laid off, no programs cut, etc)…..Folks, wake-up!!! what’s going on is NOT an epic clown show of incompetence, it’s an epic con job of colossal proportion to bilk you out of every last dime of chumbalone $bucks$ you got.… Read more »
