Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. What a hoot! Unless, of course, Don and Chris mean “prioritized” as in a “target on hardworking Illinoisans’ backs” sort of way.
Jay Hoffman lost his own seat in his Democrat District once so Madigan et al had to redraw a seat that included Holbrook’s old area for him. Jay always was a loser unless the deck is stacked for him in true Madigan style.
