Number of half-empty Chicago public schools doubles, yet lawmakers want to extend school closing moratorium – Wirepoints
A set of state lawmakers want to extend CPS’ current school closing moratorium to February 1, 2027 – the same year CPS is set to transition to a fully-elected school board. That means schools like Manley High School, with capacity for more than 1,000 students but enrollment of just 78, can’t be closed for anther three years. The school spends $45,000 per student, but just 2.4% of students read at grade level.
If I ever hear another Teacher’s protest who’s theme is “It’s for the CHILDREN”, give me a bag of ROTTEN, WORMY TOMATOES and a good pitcher!
Unions are the biggest threat children have ever faced
The City can turn the public schools into homeless shelters.
Landlords can once again evict tenants because now they will have a place to stay.
CTU wants schools to be closed forever. CTU members simply want a paycheck and have never given a fig about education. In times of trouble one’s true colors come through. Bust this union now.
BLM,
Let the private schools open, it will not end well.
Vouchers. Let the parent choose the best solution for their kids.
They continue to be the most abusive people and women still vote for them. Unreal.
The Catholic grade school two miles from my home opened late August and has been doing just fine.
