Chinese firm Gotion has announced multiple EV battery component plants in the U.S. over the last 12 months, including one in Manteno, Illinois.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

None of our politicians ever listen to what the consumers of EV’s have to say after owning them for a while.
Without the incentives who would actually buy one? The incentives are like the discounts given to closeout sales to entice buyers.
In China Joe Trusts. I’m sure it’s got nothing to do, nothing at all, with the ChiCom payments to the Biden family.
China builds a lot of low cost EV vehicles. Biden, as a gift to the UAW, has assorted trade regulations that keep the low cost cars out forcing the American consumer to pay considerably more for a vehicle. However the Democrats want to pay the Chinese to build their batteries in the USA. So the USA consumer has to pay more for a vehicle, pay more taxes so the Chinese can be paid to make their batteries here and Biden/Pritzker get headlines about making the USA an EV place. It is sad that some people, for some reason, can’t put two and two together and see the the corruption taking place right in front of their eyes. This is it – they aren’t even hiding it now… If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck it is probably a….moose. Wake up people.
In Illinois it is not about corruption but rather its the unions and the free stuff army that head to the polls on election day and the one that promises the most freebies wins. Karl Marx for example could get elected here if he promised enough food stamps and blamed all the problems on MAGA extremists.
Don’t disagree with you note…but ya know…there is plenty of corruption in Illinois as well as Biden, Fat Man and the rest.
There will be a ton of kickbacks for the politically connected or at the very least lucrative positions.
