Biden cites Illinois’ plan to delay 2-cent a gallon state gas tax increase an example of ‘relief’ – Center Square

President Biden Wednesday called for the suspension of the federal gas tax for 90 days, something that could save drivers a little more than 18 cents a gallon. He urged states to follow suit. “Already, some states have acted. In Connecticut and New York, the governors have temporarily suspended their gas tax as well. In Illinois and Colorado, governors delayed theirs to give families a bit more breathing room as well.”

Only in Biden’s Alzheimer’s-addled head is a two-cent per gallon discount off of the $5.89 per gallon retail cost to the consumer considered relief.

Will the Chicago media call Biden and Pritzker out for this howler?

Don’t bet on it. The dolts at WGN News are still whacking off to Adam Schiff’s TDS porn miniseries. Clueless.

You and others on this thread and elsewhere criticize Biden and Pritzker for what you consider an insignificant rebate offered for consumrer gas prices? Nobody can realistically make you “whole” on the topic of gasoline prices now as compared to a year ago, so isn’t even a small rebate better than no rebate? Why do you and the others mentioned express some appreciation and look at the bright side of it? Neither Biden nor Pritzker has the power to significantly how a free market economy works on their own other than “jawboning” to make its more agreeable. Yet, every one… Read more »

James – There is a lot of pent-up frustration out here.

When considering the mess we’ve been totally and unnecessarily bullied into we have a lot of shared angst.

We feel helpless when faced with the stupidity and total disregard for our welfare and rights.

Yes, some comments are venal and petty – that’s what aggrieved people sometimes engage in. Beats the heck out of how some groups react: riots, looting, destruction, threats, etc.

Here what I think might happen. So Biden lifts Federal Motor Fuel taxes and at the same time Pritzker lifts the Illinois Motor Fuel tax hike. Then at the pump prices will drop two pennies for the Illinois tax hike but Pritzker will tout the relief as all his doing meaning he will take credit for the total reduction in price…he will garner credit for the drop in Federal Tax as well. The average Illinois airhead voter will take it in hook line and sinker then, after the election, the prices will rise with the tax expirations that Pritzker, if… Read more »

Chicago Teachers Union contract demands are totally divorced from reality – Wirepoints

Details emerging about Chicago Teachers Union’s upcoming contract show just how divorced its demands, both extreme and expensive, are from the reality at Chicago schools. It’s not just about massive salary increases, but also about money for migrant students, climate initiatives, abortions and gender-affirming care. About blocking parental notification. Count on CTU’s demands to veer further from reality until the public finally says no.

Gov. Pritzker’s ‘ethics reform’ eliminates competitive elections and choice for voters – Wirepoints on AM 560 Chicago’s Morning Answer

Ted joined Dan and Amy to talk about a new law passed by the Democratic supermajority and signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker that results in brazen election interference, keeping Republicans off ballots; about a referendum that tests the waters for a renewed progressive income tax hike; about how the Parental Notification referendum question was knocked off the ballot; and why laws like that pass so easily.

Chicago needs more champions of literacy like Willie Wilson – Wirepoints

It’s rare to see city leaders in Chicago take an open, unabashed stance on the collapse of literacy. To complain is deemed as too political, too racist or too anti-public schools. So it’s refreshing to see Willie Wilson, a successful businessman and leader of the black community, call for a literacy initiative “with the goal of getting 100% of Black students reading at grade level.”
