Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
I am trying to guess at their motives for coming here. There is no danger that Illinois would leave its blue status so why come to influence votes when it will do no real good? Amendment 1 perhaps but if anyone knows fill me in.
Urban vote by mail figures are really low this election in big cities like Philly, and Cap Fax is constantly complaining about the low mail-in return rate in Chicago. They’re very worried the ballot harvesters aren’t doing their jobs. Low urban turnout and high suburban/rural turnout means most places turn blood red.

* Chicago early vote totals…
The city is now at 17 percent of the statewide total, up a point from before, but still short of its 21 percent of the total state population
Chicago generally has greater early voting and VBM, with lower day of voting compared to teh rest of the state. The data is from 6 days before the election and there is only 164,563 votes. This is not good, in a red wave environment, Dems need high VBM and early voting to overcome R’s day of voting.
They know there are serious enthusiasm problems with D’s this midterms.
That’s good information and I hope those numbers hold. A huge red wave would likely result in some moderation of the ridiculously progressive policies of the left. Time for some common sense.
Never underestimate the ability of the organized Democrat prescient committeemen to get the vote out showing up with promises of more free food stamps et al along with free rides to the polls on election day
Que the circus music, the clowns are arriving for extended name calling; you ultra Maga deplorables. Never vote for a democrat, the party of degenerate pedophiles. They have the brass to look down their noses at normal people. I don’t know a lot about Bailey but anyone is better than Arbuckle; Madre De Dios what an asswhole!
Leftist Democrats doubling down on what most don’t want. It’s all they have to offer.
Obama is the one being sent to campaign in some close and important senate races. Among Biden, Harris and Obama, he is also the best one to send for anything important.
Here’s where the biased MSM is going to stub their toes. The more exposure Biden and Harris get, the more they will negatively impact the few races that aren’t already wrapped-up.
The few senate races that are up for grabs and have gotten a lot of exposure, Rubio in Florida, and the NY governor’s race are the interesting ones I’ll be paying attention to after the polls close.
Will O’Bama and Harris ignore Biden, again? Will Biden sniff some kids, again? Will Harris cackle, again?
Watch all three try to scare people.
I would love to think that their internal polling is so bad that they feel the need to dispatch Biden and Harris to campaign in a deep blue state—but doesn’t it seem more likely given their abysmal approval ratings that they need to be seen as doing SOMETHING, so they are being sent to a place where they will not be able to do any harm?
I think it’s triage. There are 1. D seats that are totally safe and don’t need support, 2. D seats that are too far gone to save, and, in our case 3. D seats that are far too close for comfort. There are no public polls for underwood, casten or foster. So what are the internal polls showing if these candidates are asking the extremely unpopular Biden (national approval is 29% according to some polls) to campaign on their behalf? I think they’re freaked out and national D’s are trying to save what they think they can save. The pollsters… Read more »
Also, don’t forget, the IL legislature this year did a gerrymander to create the absolute most partisan maps in the country. NY’s maps were slightly more partisan but they were tossed out in court. IL has the most partisan maps. But our legislature is not smart. They are filled with dummies. They likely spread D support too thin. This is probably a dummymander. One pundit who looked at the new IL maps called it political malpractice because they used Trump era voting patterns to draw district boundaries instead of all of the 2010’s. The Trump era voting patterns in IL… Read more »
Interesting thoughts and thanks for them.
I hope there are many photo ops with Lori. Joe will refer to her as an adult fully formed turd.
I would have predicted their desperate act would be a shift to the center. Apparently, though, they haven’t figured out that they are far too left. Bringing in these two will only worsen that.
The communist never moderates. They only double down. It’s baked into their ideology. The good news is that 11/8 will cement the progressives’ demise in all but D+20 districts, and looking forward, the progressives’ ascendancy will be in our rear-view mirror. The era of progressive Democrat is ending. Democrats had some serious defeats in 2020 and the progressives did not do well in spring primaries this year. AOC the world’s worst progressive, ran around saying that these elections were lost because the candidates were not progressive enough! It’s the doubling down that the ideology requires to keep ‘progressing’. In the… Read more »
Got the below post from a blog I frequently read. This lady is telling it as it is, on the ground. “I am a volunteer poll watcher with Darren Bailey’s campaign for IL governor. We are part of a state wide coalition of other voter integrity groups. There are thousands of us. For the first time since the earth cooled, the RNC has sent resources here. The RNC actually believes we stand a chance and have been willing to provide personnel of all stripes to assist in our efforts. If we win on 11/8/22, it is due to the Herculean… Read more »
Biden & Harris in Illinois?
Their internal polls must be bad, very bad.
The steal is in.
It concerns me when Biden gives a speech and said it will take several days to count the votes. Why would he do that? So strange. Has any other president said something like that a week before the election?
No I do not believe so. My friends around the globe saw his speech, and thought what the heck is wrong with him.
2020, for all of its issues, was never resolved. They got away with “it”.
PA, GA and AZ will be stolen again. Voting machines more than mail in ballots this time IMO.
I am voting as late as possible on Election Day, in person. I am also a Poll Watcher.
It is possible they will steal it again. But it’s going to be a lot harder to do and they’ll have to be far more brazen about it. I think that’s why Biden got out there yesterday and said that it will take days to count the ballots, but rest assured, you’ll be forced to accept the results when we win. And if AZ, PA, GA, NV, NH stop counting votes again at 2 am with an early morning vote drop almost exclusively for the D candidates, rest assured, America isn’t going to stand for this again. Even the most… Read more »
Don’t worry, gender studies and theater majors, college is on me!
Wolfnight, I respect your opinions but, regarding voting machines, people I have talked to who are really close to the issues surrounding them are not concerned. They do not believe they failed or were rigged in 2020.
I never believed it was the machines, although I’m sure it’s been tried.
The fraud is easy if anyone would just audit the votes like they’re doing in Maricopa County, AZ:

Read this thread of the ballots. Someone voted for a dead person and then wrote: DECEASED next to the signature. the vote was still counted. They reviewed roughly 100,000 votes and 20,000 of them were mismatched signatures. This is ballot harvesting, that’s why the signature don’t match. They don’t care if they match. They never thought they would be audited. In 1982, the feds audited Chicago’s votes and there was incredible amounts of fraud. I linked to the story many times. This is how fraud in Chicago is done. Precinct level, ground level fraud, knowing that NO ONE will ever… Read more »
Biden and Harris — neither one of these high function retards can speak coherently on any topic at all. The perfect headliners for the dysfunctional Democrat Party
This is great news. If Illinois suburban races are actually tightening, it means the entire country is in play for Republicans. The Biden/Harris administration is toxic right now.
If Illinois was in play the Democrats wouldn’t send those idiots Biden and Harris. They’d send Obama
Stranger things have happened…
HRC was an 85% lock to win in 2016, she didn’t…
NY is on the verge of electing a (R) governor…
IL may very well *be in play* but the MSM will do their best to keep that a secret…
JBP may be hoping to blame JB & KH if he loses, thus salvaging his chance at being named VP when JB finally conks out…
JB’s bag is a little bit lighter this time around…
Leave it to the losers Biden and Harris to visit a safe, reliably blue state like Illinois that even they can’t screw up. Why don’t tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber campaign in a close race?
This is their only play.
Probably a little of both. Dems clearly concerned about Illinois – what is usually a slam dunk – so they’re trying to shore up support where they can. I just looked on RCP for recent IL congressional polls. There are no public polls released for Casten (D+12), Foster (D+16) or Underwood (D+14). Why would Biden and Harris show up to a state that was D+14 and rally in an area with D+16 candidates? What do their internal polls show? My guess, and this is pure speculation, is that the polls are tightening, that these districts are now D+2 or D+4,… Read more »
I heard they’re coming to campaign for Casten and Underwood. Maybe they’ll bring a drag queen with them since Casten is such a big supporter of that.
