State Sen. Erica Harriss explained why she voted No: “We don’t need another quick fix. We need structural change to increase IDFPR’s effectiveness, allowing those seeking licenses to be able to provide vital services to our communities without lowering the standards."
Do these legislators at the end of year vote to see who has come up with the dumbest bill to pass ? The trophy could be a statue with the guys head up his a$$

Non medical legislators should have no say in professional licenses. What they need to do they won’t do. Remove DEI and political cronis from running the Department and associated websites. IL needs qualified people working in these areas, not someone’s relative or friend.

New question to ask your medical provider: Are you licensed/. If not, move on—you and your health plan will be paying full rates for on the job training. Your health and access to professional providers is more important than papering over a state agency’s failure to act.

The bill “Removes good moral character standards as qualification requirements” as a requirement for social workers and music therapists. Previously you could not be licensed if you were a registered sex offender because of obvious risks to under-age and other vulnerable people, but I guess Illinois is taking that off the table. They have no problem with convicted offenders working with your children.
Anything temporary in Illinois becomes permanent
