Bill Daley slams Johnson’s claim of ‘decades of disinvestment’ by past mayors – Chicago Sun-Times

"When you look at the investments over 22 years that Rich [Daley] made throughout this city and then you look at how he did in his election results across the city — getting 2% in his first election in the Black community and, the last time he ran, probably getting 70 or 80% in the Black community — that was a statement about the fairness,” Bill Daley said.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Johnson is exactly right about Daley’s beyond terrible decisions to sell off the Skyway and city parking. Unfortunately, Johnson is also exactly wrong about just about everything else he has in front of him. For example, it would not occur to Mayor CTU that forcing CPS to take out high interest loans to cover a $500 million deficit is as bad as Daley’s Skyway and parking decisions.

looks like middle of the road dems have have enough of the CTU/Brandon & CO clown show….On the other hand it was Bills brother, Richie, who really ramped up the $$$gigantic$$$ pubic sector contract giveaways to CTU, FOP, etc during his mayor ship in 90s & 00s

Tom Valentine, formerly a reporter for the Chicago Tribune, stated on his talk show Radio Free America years ago that over half of the US hard goods were manufactured in the southwest side of the city. Scumbag Bill was one of the leaders approving the passage of NAFTA and increasing the profits of the donor class. Does anyone remember the plants of Sunbeam and Ekko?

That giant Sunbeam manufacturing complex on Roosevelt Rd in Chicago was very close to the GE Major Appliances complex in Cicero where I worked as an engineer in the 80s. The GE complex closed several years after the Sunbeam complex closed in the early 80s.

I saw those products and more in almost every house I visited as a kid. Great products that worked well. Employed many relatives
And friends, all those jobs gone!
