Bill to address human trafficking in Illinois ready for governor’s desk – Center Square

The National Human Trafficking Hotline has identified more than 5,600 victims in Illinois since 2007. The ISP Trafficking Enforcement Bureau conducted seven human trafficking demand suppression operations in 2024, resulting in 31 arrests and 90 criminal charges.

Yet Illinois continues to be a sanctuary state for even unaccompanied minors. The hypocrisy is rich when they say they are addressing this indespicable activity, while there is a very strong likelihood some of the individuals seeking “sanctuary” are trafficking victims. Illinois better think long and hard before they talk anymore about legalizing prostitution. Where is the common sense?
