Black, Latino Caucuses Look To Maximize Power In City Council Remap Amid Population Shifts – Block Club Chicago

The city overall is losing population, driven primarily by a sharp drop in African American residents. In 2010, African Americans accounted for 32 percent of the city’s population, but that number in 2019 was estimated to be about 29 percent. Sad article, all about race. Totally racist. Assumes a resident cannot be represented adequately unless that alderman shares the same color skin as his constituents. No ideas presented at all, or policies, just ‘black/white/asian/hispanic’ caucuses. This is third world type stuff, really, with coalitions formed based solely on race and tribe…I thought America was about transcending that experience.

There is no diversity in Chicago.. They are all dems. The dems will ensure that the different groups continue to hate each other. It is much easier to stay in power this way. I’m just surprised that the dems can keep all of the Chicago residents as dems. It is a true testament to their skill.
