Brandon Johnson’s Chicago Election Win Is the Police’s Worst Nightmare – Newsweek

In a Facebook post March 28, the police union said that if Johnson won, there would be a "major exodus" from a group of 2,900 officers with either 20 years of service or those who are above the age of 50. The police department is "already down nearly two thousand officers. We cannot sustain a mass exodus of manpower. Our pension fund cannot handle that exodus either longterm."

Yes and no. Any thinking Chicago cop already knows what the progs think of him and his profession. Old cops will retire faster. Young cops will lateral to an area that appreciates them — perhaps even move to red states.

I feel sorry for the cops that have about 15 years on. They have too much vested in Chicago and are kinda too old to start over somewhere else.

Nah, I hear we’re all going to get a three year grace period for paying our property taxes from Mayor-Elect BJ…. And, even better, when you’re frustrated just go and do some cathartic LOOTING. Clown world….

Its not the Police’s worst nightmare. It’s the law abiding citizens worst nightmare until we leave Chicago. Self protection thanks to the 2nd Amendment and Vigilante justice will become the only form of policing and criminal trials.

Nightmare? They will resign with a multimillion-dollar pension to buy a luxury home in Punta Gorda, Fl. It is good work if you can get it. Want a Cop? Call the Punta Gorda Yacht Club.

As they should…. All downside and no upside in that job…. On the plus side, if you’re a social worker, you can find work in Chicago as a criminal/violent crime-abator…. It’s kind of like being a police officer without a gun…. What a great job!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
