What report? Chicago is a welcoming city, come visit Chicago and get stabbed to death by a total stranger! Perhaps a misunderstood at risk youth or young adult! What say you Lori? Haven’t been shooting off your mouth as much lately. Gonna claim it was Trump in dreadlocks running from his lair to stab a stranger. Come on Lori, what feeble excuse can you come with? Food desert, misunderstood? Oppressed? Urban despair? A Situation? It was a lone victim, so a gathering won’t cover it!

Wow I didn’t know they already “reimagined” the police services, that was fast progress.

As a city resident, recently I’ve experienced the same crappy experience when calling 311 to report car vandalism on my block. A couple weeks ago the gangbanger want-to-be kid, 1/2 a block down, got all 4 tires flattened on his pimped-up truck and then his front window smashed in. I called 311 & 911 several times and told the operator I didn’t want that sh__ going on on my block, they refused to take a report but did look up plate to see if car was stollen, that’s all? Then the dudes truck sat on block for 2 weeks looken… Read more »

Unreported crime becomes crime that statistically didn’t occur. My guess is that CPD stations have been directed to discourage crime report-submittals, to reduce reported crime statistics in their precinct. I suspect it’s a calculated political move, on part of Mayor’s Office and CPD headquarters, to obscure public perception of crime risks here in Chicago. I’ve friends who live here in Chicago, on North Side, who aren’t aware of sharp uptick in crime, because Trib and Suntimes rarely cover what CWB blog site does, what former 2nd City Cop blog site did – lots of street crime, little active policing, few… Read more »

“I’ve friends who live here in Chicago, on North Side, who aren’t aware of sharp uptick in crime…” They live in a different reality from the rest of us, a reality not grounded in facts, reason or science, as we’ve all come to learn in the last 15 months. They live in a world where a fetus is a clump of cells, men can be women, election fraud is voter access and white supremacists are responsible for nearly all violent crime in major urban centers. I tell these nutjobs, to their face, that I don’t live in their alternative reality,… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
