Census delay could give district redraw pen to GOP, complicate 2022 election – Center Square

Illinois’ Constitution states that redistricting done after June 30 is taken away from the state’s majority party and handed to an eight-person committee staffed by four Democrats and four Republicans. If the sides can’t agree on a map, a tie-breaking member is chosen by drawing names out of a replica of Abraham Lincoln’s hat.

We all fully expect Illinois Democrats to trample and set fire to the IL constitution. there’s no way in hell they will let Republicans have any say in the redistricting map. Rush Limbaugh said the ultimate goal of Democrats was to remove elections all together, we don’t need them, they know what candidates are best for us. And if IL can’t get a new map done in time, I fully expect them to just not hold elections at all, or tally their own election results based on previous elections.
