This is notable to everyone who appreciates the density of Chicago’s loop and big cities in general. Because of security concerns, GSA wanted to simply demolish all of the buildings surrounding the Federal Buildings downtown. GSA dreams of empty suburban acreage or at a minimum a giant parking lot surrounding their buildings for simplicity instead of dealing with a dense urban environment. The historic value of the buildings was a nuisance to their goal.
