Sen. Robert Peters, D-Chicago, filed a 308-page amendment to House Bill 1095. Among other things, it states that when cash bail ends on Jan. 1, the changes will apply to those charged with crimes after that date; it clarifies and defines that all people charged with “forcible felonies” and non-probationable offenses may be detained under the dangerousness standard; and it maintains that individuals accused of domestic violence may be held pretrial.
My guess is that in the end DUI will not be affected. Can’t kill that cash cow for the politicians.

Almost 800 pages in the original bill, now a 30p+ page amendment? What kind of gibberish are these people writing? The Illinois legislature is just a 3 ring circus, the House, the Senate, and Pritzger.

Its almost as though, our elected officials are not listening to us…sheesh. They appear to be listening to only one faction of the population of the state of Illinois and the country. I’m not a radical, I live and pay my taxes. But I don’t agree with anything happening in government within the state of Illinois or this country. The wheels of government turn slowly…for some. This ridiculous – dangerous bill is flying through the government of this state…without debate or even the opportunity for the elected officials to read it…feels like we are not represented any longer…

Not enough legislative lipstick for this pig of bill.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
