Ted joined Tom Miller of WJPF to talk about the details of Gov. Pritzker’s proposed $52 billion budget, why the state is struggling now that federal covid dollars have run out, the controversy surrounding Tier 2 government pensions, why Illinois’ expensive education system fails to teach children to read, the outrageous demands of the Chicago Teachers Union, and more.
The new process doesn’t matter….It is not like the kids can read the report anyway
Part of me wants to bet upset about this for how inherently ridiculous it is, but honestly, I can’t find myself being surprised or outraged anymore. CPS is far beyond the point of no return, it’s not salvageable, so I don’t know what’s the point of getting worked up about it. CPS is essentially just daycare and meal service for poor people, that’s all it is…and the death spiral will only get worse.
Yep, its a food service, Daycare and Transportation organization. That’s all.
Chicago businesses probably can’t wait to hire all the new, young, CPS educated talent. How will the rest of the nation ever compete?
Maybe just let the parents know the cps schools Brandon, Stacy & Jesse send thier kiddies too….I’ll gaurenteeted none are your neighborhood cps schools
once again, although many years ago when my kid where at CPS but I’m sure nothing changed, If you want to experience the epicenter of all fake progressive lib virtue signaling hypocrisy you will find it at top CPS selective enrollment HS (Northside, Payton, Young, etc) if your kid gets in. If CPS/CTU was truly committed to equity, as they claim, they would simply eliminate all selective enrollment and magnet programs but never will because virtually 100% of white and asian parents/families with a clue would leave the system as well as any black and hispanic middle class families. How is it that many kids cannot read yet they seem to be proficient in electronic devices? They can navigate their cellphones easily and not just looking at pictures. You must be able to read something even on twitter or Tik-Tok/etc. How much of this is attributed to Common Core and most recently to lockdowns? Most of this is also that no one reads to them at home as young kids and parent may not know how to read themselves. Looking at the photo there are at least 2 Hispanic kids and if no one speaks English at home and… Read more »
My three year old could figure out how to play on the ipad, navigate youtube kids and play other games. They don’t necessarily need to know how to read. And if you’ve ever seen partially illiterate older teens or adults texting, it’s mostly phonetic spelling, broken English and Emojis. It’s really not all that different than rural Chinese using pinyin on their cell phones to input simplified chinese characters, followed by a thumbs up or crying emoji.
Chicago is Hiding Public School Failure With New Shell Game Rating System
Don’t like the answer; change the formula.
Metrics that will capture a school’s climate and culture? Nobody can read, but the victim culture is coming along quite well?
Woke madrasas.
