Chicago alderwoman fires back after Archbishop pens letter saying proposed city ordinance was rushed – FOX32 (Chicago)

"What the ordinance does is it would require every single person who provides human services, you know a million to a million and a half people every year in the city of Chicago, to sign a Labor Peace Agreement with the unions, whether or not we're unionized. The reason we're concerned about that is cause it does nothing to actually increase worker wages or benefits, it adds cost and complexity, but in the absence of more funding, we can't do anything, and the only way that we could respond to do more for the workers, would be to spend less on services," said Sally Blount, CEO of Catholic Charities of Chicago.

The catholic church has embraced every woke, uber liberal idea proposed by the political class. Too bad, so sad for them. No money from me in the collection basket.

So, if Catholic Charities are an exempt charitable organization, I wonder how the entirely Democratic-n-progressive alderman have decided which charitable organizations don’t qualify as “exempt” from their silly and thoughtless lickspittle pro-union policy?

Oh Cardinal, you are such a hypocrite. Let’s all look back to your first few months in Chicago when there wasn’t a louder voice screaming support for unions. But, OH, now they want the Church to embrace unions? Not so fast, right Cardinal.

How low can you get when unions start strong arming churches. Why is it just the Catholic Church, what about all the others? Muslim, Buddhist, Baptist or is it because the Catholic Church is mostly white. I would say this is discrimination based on religion if the other churches aren’t included in this agreement.

Actually PG, anti Catholic bias is the only PC religious discrimination allowed these days.

Union scum can’t attract members – and their luscious gravy train of member dues – by providing desirable services to workers. Instead they bribe Democrat politicians to thuggishly enforce membership. Soon federal law will allow right to work for everyone in America.

We can only hope you’re right about federal law, but, unfortunately, I doubt it.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
